Who We Are
William E. Taylor Division of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is accepting earnest inquiries from qualified youths, aged 11 through 17, who are interested in learning about our Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Merchant Marine.
Our cadets wear Navy uniforms and can train aboard naval ships and on naval bases. Our compelling training program occurs around the country during school vacations and covers various careers fields. Our program changes lives by exposing cadets to new challenges and teaching them important skills like leadership and teamwork.
Delaware’s William E. Taylor Division is a training unit which drills one weekend per month, eleven months per year, and which provides many opportunities for cadets to train with and to work with regular and reserve US Navy, US Coast Guard & US Marine Corps personnel (with ‘not any ’ or with ‘minimal ’ limitations) at summer Advanced Trainings (AT).
USNSCC is a volunteer youth program funded by donations from organizations and individuals. As such, there are basic operational fees assessed to cadets. A cadet is assessed an annual $90 fee which covers his or her ID card and insurance. In addition, a one time $290 enrollment fee which covers uniforms, sea bag, and various other uniform related items (patches, ribbons, etc) during a cadet’s continuous tenure with Taylor Division. These fees are non-refundable. There is a $250 deposit on uniforms which are property of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Boots are generally a personal expense although unit may have boots available depending on sizes.
While costs are kept to a minimum, cadets are responsible for annual trainings and related transportation, meals and occasional away activities. When possible, additional costs are offset by unit funds and donations.
Cadets are not obligated to serve in the armed forces, but may enlist at an advanced paygrade (up to E3) when qualified. You too may be able to qualify, right out of high school, for a NAVY or COAST GUARD boot camp with a guaranteed ‘A’ school and extra pay per month to start! Ask about the Montgomery G. I. Bill, which provides a large part of trade school or college tuition to every veteran with an Honorable Discharge!

- Cadets age 14-17 are assigned to the Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC)
